    2024 Scholarship Program

 

Scholarship Opportunity for Arab American Engineering and Architecture Students:

The Capital Area Chapter of the Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects (AAAEA-Capital Area) is pleased to announce its 2024 Scholarship Program. This initiative is aimed at supporting undergraduate and graduate students from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) areas. The target population will be for students who are pursuing degrees in engineering, architecture, or computer science/information technology.

Program Overview

The scholarship is open to senior high-school students and to undergraduate and graduate students. The goal is to encourage, and support, the pursuit of careers in

engineering, architecture, and IT while strengthening the bond between the AAAEA and the Arab American community. Each scholarship awarded to be valued at a  minimum of $1,000. Recipients will be honored at an upcoming AAAEA-Capital Area event where they will receive their scholarships.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Membership: Applicants must be student members of the AAAEA Capital Area Chapter or children of current members. They must be of Arab or Arab-American heritage.
  • Academic Requirements: Students must be enrolled full-time in an accredited four-year college or university, working towards a degree in engineering, architecture, or information technology. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Essay: 35%
  • Most Recent College Transcript (GPA): 30%
  • Resume: 20%
  • Letter of Recommendation: 15%

The quality of the application presentation, including neatness, organization, and proper English usage, will also be considered.

How to Apply

Interested students must complete the AAAEA Scholarship Award Application and submit the following to the email listed below by October 12, 2024 found here:

  1. Official college transcript (freshmen must provide an acceptance letter to an engineering program).
  2. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
  3. A description of extracurricular activities, including relevant work experience and community involvement.
  4. An essay discussing their interest in their field of study and its impact on society and AAAEA.
